Jeremy has degrees in History, Law and International Relations from the University of Adelaide and the Australian National University. Jeremy is admitted to practise as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
Jeremy has worked as a lawyer, youth worker, community development facilitator, community services manager, recruitment and training manager, human resources manager, senior policy advisor and principal legal recruitment consultant. In the education sector, Jeremy has worked as a lecturer, subject coordinator, head of hall and boarding house master.
Jeremy has extensive leadership in government, higher education and the private sector. As a former lawyer and academic, Jeremy brings deep expertise in legislative frameworks, recruitment and strategic workforce development. Jeremy leads in operational design, team management and stakeholder engagement, with a strong focus on initiatives that target young adults.
Contributed to improving youth justice policy and operational outcomes in corrections. Provided policy advice regarding the implementation of a needle and syringe program in a correctional centre and managed a project to integrate data across a corrections agency. Drafted the first iteration of the Blueprint for Youth Justice in the ACT.
Taught Corporations Law, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and Law Reform and Social Justice at the Australian National University, Criminology at the University of Canberra, Swinburne University of Technology and the Australian Catholic University. Teaches Administrative Law, Disputes and Ethics and Professional Responsibility at the University of Melbourne. Considerable knowledge of legislative frameworks and government decision-making processes.
Recruited lawyers and other officers at all levels up to SES Band 3 for dozens of public sector agencies across commonwealth, state and territory governments. Recruited lawyers for dozens of Australian and international law firms, and corporate in-house legal practices. Designed and implemented a values-based approach to the recruitment of Corrections Officers and Community Corrections Officers at ACT Corrective Services.
Over 20 years of teaching and subject coordination experience at institutions including the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne. Led operational and pastoral care activities in university residential halls and colleges.
